Troy, Ala., native Maj. Christopher Amos, executive officer, 1103rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, awards the combat action badge to Mission Viejo, Calif., native Staff Sgt. Ray Palacio of the 349th Quartermaster Company, attached to the 82nd Sustainment Brigade-U.S. Central Command Materiel Recovery Element, during a Dec. 20 award ceremony at the Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan retrosort yard. Palacio and three of his fellow teammates received the badge for a complex attack in which 349th QM Company troops defended a forward operating base and assisted the logistics of injured troops.
