U. S. Marine Corps Capt. Desmond Terrance, 33, a native of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, a functional check pilot with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron-469, checked the tail rotors on a UH-1Y Venom on Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, Dec. 21, 2017. Functionality checks are implemented when maintenance on the vehicle is performed to ensure that all parts are working correctly. After the functionality check, the maintenance team was able to locate vibrations in the tail rotor and take the necessary actions to fix it in order to restore mission readiness. (U. S.
