U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Frank H. Batten III, the command chief master sergeant of the 9th Air Force Air Expeditionary Task Force-Afghanistan, speaks from behind the podium during the USAF’s 66th birthday ceremony held at ISAF Headquarters in Kabul, Sept. 18, 2013. The annual tradition celebrates the day the USAF become a separate military service. The Air Corps became a subordinate element of the Army Air Forces on June 20, 1941.
