U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Chad Franks, center, Ninth Air Force commander, tests the 41st Rescue Squadron’s (RQS) virtual reality flight simulator before a flight at Moody Air Force Base, Ga., Aug. 8, 2019. It was Franks’ initial flight in the Ninth Air Force commander’s flagship aircraft, an HH-60G Pave Hawk assigned to the 41st RQS. Franks, who on separate occasions served as the commander for the 23d Wing and 347th Rescue Group, is a command pilot with more than 3,300 hours in multiple aircraft including HC-130J Combat King II and HH-60G Pave Hawk.
