U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Kurt Locke, medic from the 36th Medical Operations Squadron, Anderson Air Force Base, Guam, checks Capt. Jay Baer, F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot from the 18th Aggressor Squadron, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, heart rate during Exercise COPE NORTH 2012. Exercise COPE NORTH 2012, a three week exercise between the U.S. Air Force, the Japan Air Self Defense Force and the Royal Australian Air Force, began Feb. 11 here bringing more than 1,000 service members to the island. The exercise, which will run through Feb. 24, is designed to enhance air operations and serve as a reminder of the three nations are commitment to preserving peace in the Pacific area of responsibility.
