Summary

U.S. Army 1st Lt. Tate Kildonas, a doctor assigned to the hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20), explains to a woman how to use resistance bands to improve her range of motion at a temporary medical treatment site in Castries, Saint Lucia, Sept. 25, 2019. Comfort is working with health and government partners in Central America, South America and the Caribbean to provide care on the ship and at land-based medical sites, helping to relieve pressure on national healthcare systems, including those strained by an increase in cross-border migrants. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
