U.S. Army Lt. Col. William J. Gray (center), commander of 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 252nd Armor Regiment, poses for a photo with Austrian Lt. Mario Hainboeck and U.S. Army Sgt. David Anthony, following the Reindeer Dash for Cash shadow run, held Dec. 6, 2015, at Camp Marechal de Lattre de Tassigny, Kosovo, in honor of Capt. Christopher S. Cash. Gray, Hainboeck and Anthony were the top three finishers of the CMLT race. Cash was a member of the North Carolina National Guard’s 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team’s 2004 deployment to Iraq, where he was killed in action while serving as a company commander. The 30th ABCT’s 1-252nd Armor Regiment is serving as the Multinational Battle Group-East Forward Command Post in Kosovo, and held the day’s shadow run in concert with a worldwide effort to honor Cash’s memory.
