U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Greg Zuercher, left, a military journalist from Wichita, Kansas, with the Kansas Agricultural Development Team assigned to Task Force Ironman, talks to an Afghan journalist from the Laghman Province Feb. 23 during the Afghan Journalism Seminar at the Information Culture and Youth center in Mehtar Lam, Afghanistan. Forty journalists, including eight women, attended the two-day professional development course, which featured classes taught by Mahtab Farid, a native of Santa Monica, Calif., and a U.S. State Department public diplomacy officer, and military journalists from Task Force Ironman, a part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Task Force Red Bulls. Zuercher shared news-writing tips with his Afghan counterparts, while other journalists covered topics such as photography. The event culminated with an actual press conference by Haji Auhe, the Director of Forestry, who talked about a new tree-planting project in Laghman Province sponsored by the Kansas ADT.
