U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Jonathan Bates (right), a combat engineer with the Logistics Combat Element, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin (MRF-D), rolls the corners of the concrete in order to prevent sharp edges and cracks when the cement dries during Exercise Hari’i Hamutuk 2019 at Metinaro Military Base, Dili, Timor-Leste, Sept. 9, 2019. Hari'i Hamutuk is a multilateral exercise hosted by the Timor-Leste Defense Force, and includes participants from MRF-D, the U.S. Navy, the Australian Defence Force, and the Japan Self-Defense Force. This exercise allows the participating nations to improve relationships by working together in a combined environment and through the exchange of subject matter expertise.
