U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Kalani Gains, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5 builder, uses a table saw to cut boards into different sizes, Sept. 9. Gains is originally from Oakland, Calif. NMCB 5, with help from 1st Battalion 161st Field Artillery, Kansas Army National Guard, and 243rd Engineer Support Platoon, Maryland National Guard, erected numerous tents on Camp Lemonnier. The Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, under the command of U.S Africa Command, conducts civil and non-combatant military operations in East Africa aimed to strengthen defense capability and protect U.S. and coalition interests, promote regional stability and dissuade conflict.
