U.S. sailors attach a hook to an AV-8B Harrier II aircraft while performing a crash and salvage drill for friends and family on the flight deck aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) under way in the Pacific Ocean June 15, 2012. Makin Island and the embarked U.S. Marines assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit are conducting a tiger cruise, designed to show family members and friends what sailors and Marines do on a daily basis aboard a ship.
