USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) Machinist's Mates Turn Off Boiler, XO Relights
Summary
170708-N-NB544-124 CORAL SEA (July 8, 2017) Fireman Nicholas Pedigo (left), from Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Machinist's Mate Dominic Martinez, from Omaha, Neb., stand fire watch during a scheduled boiler light off in the aft main machinery room of the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) during Talisman Saber 17. Bonhomme Richard, part of a combined U.S.-Australia-New Zealand expeditionary strike group, is undergoing a series of scenarios that will increase naval proficiencies in operating against blue-water adversarial threats and in its primary mission of launching Marine forces ashore in the littorals. Talisman Saber is a U.S.-Australian bilateral exercise held off the coast of Australia meant to achieve interoperability and strengthen the U.S.-Australian alliance.
