USS George Washington participates in Talisman Sabre 2011
Summary
Petty Officer 1st Class Matthew Haney from Walla Walla, Wash., looks on as sailors from the “Warlords” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light 51 prepare an SH-60B Seahawk for launch on the flight deck of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington. HSL-51 is one of seven squadrons making up Helicopter Maritime Strike Wing, Pacific Fleet, based in San Diego and deploys aboard multiple ships in the U.S. Navy’s Seventh Fleet. George Washington is currently participating in Talisman Sabre 2011. TS11 is a bilateral exercise designed to train Australian and U.S. forces in planning and conducting combined task force operations in order to improve Australian and U.S. combat readiness and interoperability.
