USS SOMERSET, At sea – (Oct. 30, 2016) Marines and a sailor participate in the 41st Marine Corps Marathon aboard the USS Somerset Oct. 30, 2016 at sea. The Marine Corps Marathon organization makes special considerations allowing Marines and Sailors who are deployed to officially run the marathon wherever they are in the world, even on an amphibious landing dock ship. The Marines and Sailor are with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit/Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, currently underway during their Western Pacific 16-2 deployment. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service.
