While on the bridge of USNS Carl Brashear, Capt. Brashear is a Lewis and Clark-class auxiliary dry cargo ship named in honor of U.S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Carl M. Brashear, the first African-American master diver and first U.S. Navy diver to be restored to full active-duty service as an amputee.
