While on the bridge of USNS Carl Brashear, Capt. Michael Grogan (left), civil service master, points out equipment on the ship’s deck to Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa personnel during a tour here May 9. Brashear is a Lewis and Clark-class auxiliary dry cargo ship named in honor of U.S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Carl M. Brashear, the first African-American master diver and first U.S. Navy diver to be restored to full active-duty service as an amputee. CJTF-HOA coalition officers work alongside their U.S. counterparts at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, to foster relations with their international partners and East African nations.
