With representatives of the state legislature, Wisconsin National Guard, Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs and National Guard family members looking on, Gov. Scott Walker signs legislation Aug. 5 at Joint Force Headquarters in Madison, Wis., that wiil have a direct benefit to the Wisconsin National Guard, the Reserves and service members in general. One bill expands who is eligible for an emergency financial assistance program geared toward National Guard or Reserve members and their families, and the other bill brings travel reimbursements for National Guard members on state active duty on line with federal active duty rates.
