Marines are providing security for the U.S. sponsered Camp Hope in Albania. MAJ Gen Hinton and his party visited with the management and contractors of the U.S. sponsored Kosovo refugee camps in Fier, Albania, June 1, 1999. The US is know nearing it's second month of providing humanitarian aid to the thousands of ethnic Albanians now living in refugee camps near the Albanian and Serbian border. This mission is in direct support of Operation Shining Hope

The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. The Defense Visual Information Distribution Service provides a connection between world media and the American military personnel serving at home and abroad. All of these materials are preserved because they are important to the workings of Government, have long-term research worth, or provide information of value to citizens.
