Crew chiefs with the 616th Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron work on the tail rotor of a 71st Air Rescue Squadron (71st ARS) HH-3E Jolly Green Giant helicopter. The HH-3E is being relocated to the Aircraft Maintenance and Regeneration Center at Davis-Monthan Air Force, Arizona in preparation for the 71st ARS deactiviated on June 1, 1991. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. The Defense Visual Information Distribution Service provides a connection between world media and the American military personnel serving at home and abroad. All of these materials are preserved because they are important to the workings of Government, have long-term research worth, or provide information of value to citizens.
