Shot over the right shoulder of the US Marine Corps Commandant, GEN Carl Mundy. He has just awarded theBronze Star to US Marine SGT Bryan R. Vig, Marine Security Liaison, from Sisseton, South Dakota. On 3 October 1993, a land mine detonated underneath the vehicle in which SGT Vig was riding (not shown), throwing him clear. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
