A large crane has completed removing the gang plank from the side of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69) as the ship gets underway from pier 11 for the Caribbean en route to the waters off Haiti to take part in the joint Operations Able Vigil and Support Democracy. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. All of these materials are preserved because they are important to the workings of Government, have long-term research worth, or provide information of value to citizens.
