High angle view of the U.S. Navy San Antonio Class Amphibious Transport Dock Ship Pre Commissioning Unit (PCU) NEW YORK (LPD 21) while under construction at the Northrop Grumman Shipyard, Avondale, La., on Aug. 16, 2006. NEW YORK is the fifth ship to be built in the San Antonio Class of amphibious ships. The bow stem is made of steel from the World Trade Centers and weighs 7.5 metric tons. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service.
