New York, N.Y., Dec. 3, 2012 -- Local residents receive temporary housing information at a New York City Restoration Centers in the Bronx,  which is partnered with FEMA at local Disaster Recovery Centers to assist residents impacted by Hurricane Sandy.  The centers are set up to provide residents with information about applying for FEMA assistance and to get information about other programs that may be available if impacted by the storm.  There is additional information at the centers for Food and Nutrition Assistance, NYC Rapid Repairs, Health and Medical Benefits, Business Restoration, Counseling Services, Financial Assistance and Personal Records and Information. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt.
