The STARK has just completed sea trials that followed a stay at the Ingalls Shipbuilding facility in Pascagoula, Mississippi, for repairs to the extensive damage caused by two Iraqi-launched Exocet anti-ship missiles that struck the ship while it was on patrol in the Persian Gulf in May 1987.  Thirty-seven crewmen were killed in the explosion and fires

The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service.
