They are currently between 20 to 40 percent complete under contracts totaling $3.7 million and are scheduled to open later this year. Each is a two-story, 1,155 square meter facility providing space for medical/dental examination and treatment, x-ray capabilities, vaccination, testing lab, pharmacy, and public education. Two 143-square-meter health clinics are taking shape for the Iraqi Army at Taji Military Base in Iraq. The East Clinic is 75% complete with the crew there installing electrical lights and ceiling tiles. At the West Clinic, floor tiles are being set in place. At both clinics, final grade around the structures is being worked. The $3 million contract was awarded July 7, 2004, with an expected completion date of Aug. 25, 2005. A Missouri community is organizing a drive to collect school supplies for youngsters in and around Fallujah (as those shown above). Major Roger Alsup is a Missouri National Guardsman and principal of T.S. Hill Middle School in Dexter, Missouri, where faculty and students are supporting the drive. Major Alsup was activated for a year with the 35th Engineer Brigade out of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He is one of the project engineers at the Fallujah office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Gulf Region Central District and among his duties is helping refurbish schools in that area. U.S. Army and government officials will occupy the ground floor of the 7-story Al Hayat structure in the International (Green Zone) in Baghdad, Iraq, which will feature 42 apartments from 2 to 4 bedrooms each. The 150-day contract was awarded June 8, 2005. The contractor is installing elevators, new kitchen cabinets, appliances, complete plumbing fixtures, and furniture. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year. There are approximately 10 billion pages of textual records; 12 million maps, charts, and architectural and engineering drawings; 25 million still photographs and graphics; 24 million aerial photographs; 300,000 reels of motion picture film; 400,000 video and sound recordings; and 133 terabytes of electronic data. The Defense Visual Information Distribution Service provides a connection between world media and the American military personnel serving at home and abroad. All of these materials are preserved because they are important to the workings of Government, have long-term research worth, or provide information of value to citizens.
