A workforce of over 300 Iraqi personnel are involved in the $4.1 million complete renovation of an apartment building in the International Zone, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Gulf Region Central District, on July 8, 2005. U.S. Army and government officials will occupy the ground floor of the 7-story Al Hayat structure in the International (Green Zone) in Baghdad, Iraq, which will feature 42 apartments from 2 to 4 bedrooms each. The 150-day contract was awarded June 8, 2005. The contractor is installing elevators, new kitchen cabinets, appliances, complete plumbing fixtures, and furniture. A Missouri community is organizing a drive to collect school supplies for youngsters in and around Fallujah (as those shown above). Major Roger Alsup is a Missouri National Guardsman and principal of T.S. Hill Middle School in Dexter, Missouri, where faculty and students are supporting the drive. Major Alsup was activated for a year with the 35th Engineer Brigade out of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He is one of the project engineers at the Fallujah office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Gulf Region Central District and among his duties is helping refurbish schools in that area. Sadr City residents are lining up for fresh, clean water as the first of 27 water compact units at Thawrat-Al-Hijara School is proving to be a very popular destination. The unit is producing 15,000 liters per day. By next month,  27 units will be in operation throughout the city offering a combined output of over 400,000 liters daily. Two 143-square-meter health clinics are taking shape for the Iraqi Army at Taji Military Base in Iraq, on July 8, 2005. The East Clinic is 75% complete with the crew there installing electrical lights and ceiling tiles. At the West Clinic, floor tiles are being set in place. At both clinics, final grade around the structures is being worked. The $3 million contract was awarded July 7, 2004, with an expected completion date of Aug. 25, 2005. A workforce of over 300 Iraqi personnel are involved in the $4.1 million complete renovation of an apartment building in the International Zone, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Gulf Region Central District, on July 8, 2005. U.S. Army and government officials will occupy the ground floor of the 7-story Al Hayat structure in the International (Green Zone) in Baghdad, Iraq, which will feature 42 apartments from 2 to 4 bedrooms each. The 150-day contract was awarded June 8, 2005. The contractor is installing elevators, new kitchen cabinets, appliances, complete plumbing fixtures, and furniture. It serves an average of 500 to 700 maternity, pediatric, and blood disorder patients daily. Among the major items the contractor has already completed is rehabilitating the hospital's four elevators, putting on a whole new roof, building a new incinerator for biohazard waste, and installing a water purification plant capable of producing 6400 gallons of clean water daily.
