Shown i the debri on the ide of the runway at Robert International Airport, located outide of Monrovia, Liberia. The debri i from the original portion of the runway that wa torn out by government official, becaue it wa feared the runway wa mined with land mine. The debri could be a hazard for large aircraft like C-5 Galaxie or C-141B Starlifter landing at the airport, becaue of their large wingpan. The runway i two mile long and i being ued by United State Air Force C-130E Hercule aircraft from the 86th Air Wing out of Ramtein Air Bae, Germany, for Operation ASSURED LIFT. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt.
