An F-15E Eagle assigned to the 4th Fighter Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base (AFB), North Carolina, prior to receiving an in-air refuel over the Mediterranean Sea, from a KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the 92 Air Refueling Wing, Fairchild AFB, Washington. The F-15 Eagle is deploying to Quatar in support of the AIR EXPEDITIONARY FORCE (AEF) 97-1. Under the AEF concept almost all of the Air Force will be divided into 10 force packages, each with a cross-section of Air Force weapon systems drawn from geographically separated units. These AEF packages will be able to respond within 72 hours of notification of any unexpected contingency

The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
