The comforts committee of the Army and navy League held an Army and Navy knitting bee in Central Park Mall July 31, 1918.  Any man, woman or child who could knit was eligible to enter the contests which had been arranged, and prizes given to the most skillful.  The finished garments became the committee's property. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt.
