While contractors were having a tough time running wires and cables through the subfloor conduits in the Center for Y2K Strategic Stability, US Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Randy Blaisdell (not shown) watched, thinking there had to be a better way for such a simple task. He remembered the story from Offutt , where B-26 and B-29's were built using ferrets. The ferrets would pull cables throughout the aircrafts while they were being built. Flooding - Ames, Iowa, August 11, 2010 -- Record rainfall in the city of Ames caused the Squaw Creek to overflow its banks and inundate the local Target store. Residents should remember: Potential health/safety hazards after a disaster include carbon monoxide poisoning from generators used to power homes or clean-up equipment; electrocution from stepping into water charged by live electric wires; infections to cuts or scrapes that come into contact with surfaces contaminated by floodwater; chemical hazards from spills or storage tank breaks, respiratory and heat-related illnesses; and the worsening of chronic illness from overexertion. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
