A Marine braces against a wave while holding positioning

description

Summary

A Marine braces against a wave while holding positioning equipment during a beach depth and terrain analysis conducted by 2nd Intelligence Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton, Calif., July 16, 2014. The unit used satellite-positioning equipment to track various points along the beach as a method of measuring the water’s depth. The Marines teamed up with members of the Navy’s Naval Oceanography Special Warfare Command during the training as a way to collaborate and share lessons learned from their respective programs. Their successful deployment of their survey program to California helped prove their concept has the potential to reach out and support Marine units in various training and operational environments in the future.
