Cherokee, N.C., March 12, 2013 -- Glen Sachtleben, FEMA R4 IMAT and Deputy Federal Coordinating Officer(FCO) (left) and Michael Bolch, FEMA FCO answer questions during a conference call with a representative from the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) about the pubic assistance programs that the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) are participating in. This is the first time that a Tribal Nation has been able to deemed eligible for direct assistance from FEMA. FEMA is working representatives of the ECBI and the State of North Carolina to assist with road and other public work projects which were damaged during a severe weather incident earlier in the year.
