US Air Force Technical Sergeant Eddy Frank, armed with an M16 rifle, defends the alert facility at Homestead Air Force Base, Florida. TSGT Frank, like other base sentries, belongs to the Reserve's 482nd Security Forces Squadron. The 482nd is protecting Homestead AFB and have been named the Reserves best Security Forces Unit in 1999. 6 of the 10 Reserve team members who won the Royal Air Force's Strickland Trophy military skills cup hailed from Homestead. The 482nd also won the Spirit award at the ACC Contending Warrior '98, for the highest morale, leadership and enthusiasm. An Air Force C-17A Globemaster III, 437th Airlift Wing (AW), Charleston AFB, South Carolina, prepares to depart Germany loaded with Tri-Wall Aerial Delivery System (TRIADS) containers. Air Force C-17's delivered Humanitarian Daily Rations (HDR) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM from Germany to Afghan refugees who massed inside the borders of Afghanistan. The C-17's carried more than 35,000 HDRs packed in 84 TRIAD boxes. Each box measures 80 inches tall and 48 inches square, containing 420 HDRs. The HDRs were delivered in a first of its kind, high-altitude airdrop. This is the first operational TRIAD delivery from a C-17 aircraft as well as the first combat airdrop mission...
