U.S. Army Maj. Gen. James C. McConville, the commander of Combined Joint Task Force-101, Regional Command-East, speaks to Afghan National Security Force senior leaders and U.S. soldiers from the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, based out of Fort Polk, La.,who replaced the 4th BCT, 1st Cavalry Division, based out of Fort Hood, Texas, during a transfer of authority ceremony held at Forward Operating Base Gamberi, July 25, 2013. Task Force “Patriot” Soldiers assumed their role as a security force assistance brigade from Task Force “Long Knife,” following their 9 month tour as advisers for their ANSF counterparts in eastern Afghanistan. He told the “Long Knife” soldiers they made a difference leaving behind a strong and powerful ANSF truly capable of securing their nation and making Afghanistan a better place.
