US Senator The Honorable Strom Thurman (R-SC) is presented with a plaque by US Army (USA) Second Lieutenant (2LT) Jason Taylor and USA 2LT Benjamin Sangster, during a ceremony commemorating the 75th anniversary of Senator Thurmans commissioning into the US Army, being held at Fort Myer, Virginia (VA). 2LT Taylor and Sangster, are both former Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets from the Senators alma mater, which he helped commission. The 96-year-old Senator from South Carolina rose to the rank of Major General in the Army Reserves before concluding his service in 1960, and has served in the US Senate since 1954
