150524-M-YH418-013: RED SEA (May 24, 2015) - Cpl. Jonathan Mendez, a rifleman with Maritime Raid Force Security Platoon, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, performs the push-up portion of the “Murph” workout aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) in the Red Sea, May 24, 2015. The workout is named after Navy Lt. Michael Murphy, a Navy SEAL who was killed in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. The intense workout has become a Memorial Day tradition for many Americans. The 24th MEU is embarked on the ships of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group and are deployed to maintain regional security in the U.S. 5th Fleet Area of operations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
