John Ryan, commanding officer of the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47), holds an all hands call to welcome visiting Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) midshipmen for a day cruise. The Career Orientation and Training for Midshipmen (CORTRAMID), for midshipmen third class, and Pacific Training of Midshipmen (PACTRAMID), for midshipmen second and first class, serves as an opportunity for college students to experience life underway aboard a Navy ship with hands-on, on-the-water, sail training.
