180605-N-PH222-0134 PACIFIC OCEAN (June 5, 2018) Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Oscar Hernandez, from La Cresenta, Calif., forward, and Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Electrical) 2nd Class Edward Goforth, from Memphis, Tenn., use a hose to wash down Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) 75, attached to Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 5, in the well deck of San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23) during composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX). COMPTUEX is the final pre-deployment exercise which certifies the combined Essex Amphibious Ready Group and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s abilities to conduct military operations at sea and project power ashore during their upcoming deployment in summer of 2018. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. The Defense Visual Information Distribution Service provides a connection between world media and the American military personnel serving at home and abroad. All of these materials are preserved because they are important to the workings of Government, have long-term research worth, or provide information of value to citizens.
