180630-N-ND356-0056 PEARL HARBOR (June 30, 2018) Sailors from the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) pose with their first place victory plaque on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, June 30. Sailors assigned to Carl Vinson and guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain (CG 57) competed during a championship Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) softball game with a final score of 21-2. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships and submarines, about 200 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security of the world’s oceans.
