200414-N-KY668-1015 ATLANTIC OCEAN (April 14, 2020) Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class Andrew N. Rowe fires a shot line on the fo’c’sle aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) as it prepares for a replenishment-at-sea with the Kennebec-class oiler USS Patuxent (AO 44) during its transit from Naval Station Mayport to Naval Station Rota, April 14, 2020. Roosevelt will replace USS Carney (DDG 64) as one of four forward deployed naval forces (FDNF) in Spain. Named in honor of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor, Roosevelt will be the first Flight IIA ship stationed in Rota, providing the ability to deploy with two embarked Lamps MK III MH-60B Sea Hawk Helicopters.
