A gunner with the 35th Air Defense Artillery (ADA), Fort Lewis, Washington, in preparation for securing Patriot Missile batteries, sets up an M-60 machine gun in a newly constructed bunker. The 35th ADA, while deployed to the Fort Bliss Missile Range, will provide Patriot Missile defense against enemy fighter strikes and simulated SCUD missile launches during ROVING SANDS '97. ROVING SANDS is a multinational effort and is the largest military exercise on United States soil that allows training in a joint environment to hone command and control procedures and integrate new systems in Theater and Air Missile Defense
