Summary

A Texas A&M cadet takes a drink of water after completing the 12-kilometer ruck march event of the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, in College Station, Texas, Nov. 11, 2015. They had to carry a 15-kg pack and complete the course in two hours or less. Texas A&M University cadets got the opportunity to earn the GAFB as a result of an exchange program the college has with Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg, Germany. This year, Texas A&M is host to two German Army officers who oversaw the test and made it possible for cadets and active duty soldiers in the local area to earn the coveted GAFB. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt.
