Air Force Tech. Sgt. Kristin Bandy, a medical technician with the 121st Medical Group and an Ohio Air National Guardsman, ties a string to a role player’s wrist during the triage stage of decontamination during Vibrant Response 13 at Muscatatuck Urban Training Complex, Ind., July 26, 2012. String is used to determine the level of care the patient needs. Triage is one of the most important stages of decontamination: it allows people with the worst injuries receive treatment first. Bandy reassessed patients and marked him or her before sending them to be decontaminated. Vibrant Response 13 is a major field exercise conducted by U.S. Northern Command and led by U.S. Army North.
