An Air Force crewchief from the 28th Air Expeditionary Wing, Diego Garcia, marshals a KC-10A Extender into its parking spot during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. The KC-10A completed over 300 sorties while offloading 30 million pounds of fuel in the first 30 days of combat. The KC-10A has the capability to refuel the full spectrum of U.S. and Allied fighters, bombers, and mobility aircraft using either centerline drogue or a fly-by-wire boom system. Operation ENDURING FREEDOM is in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT), fighting terrorism abroad, after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 at the New York World Trade Center and the Pentagon
