An Attack Squadron 72 (VA-72) A-7E Corsair II aircraft of the commander, Carrier Air Wing, flies homeward following deployment in the Persian Gulf area during Operation Desert Storm. The squadron's aircraft, along with planes of Attack Squadron 46 (VA-46), will be decommissioned following return to the United States after twenty years of service in Carrier Air Wing 3. This particular Corsair exhibits a camouflage paint scheme along with the name of the war in which it played a part. Corsairs of both VA-72 and VA-46 had been stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV-67)
