Colleges and Universities - New York University - New York University knitting course
Summary
Original Caption: New York University knitting course. Group of girls knitting socks at the knitting class of the New York. University, New York. The machines installed in the University were not kept busy owing to the lack of wool, so this plan was put into operation: a pair of socks were knitted to order for 30 cents if the wool was supplied and for one dollar a pair if the wool was not furnished. Among the pupils was Miss Ruth Lawrence, a great grand niece of "Don't Give Up the Ship" Lawrence. She has knitted over 200 hundred garments. Feb. 20, 1918
