CST trains (and buses) - A man in a yellow suit is standing next to a truck
Summary
New Jersey Army and Air National Guard Soldiers and Airmen of the 21st Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team, New Jersey National Guard, perform a sweep on a New Jersey Transit bus during an exercise at the New Jersey Transit Maintenance Facility, Kearny, N.J., March 22, 2006. Students participated in the exercise posing as casualties. The exercise’s purpose was for the 21st WMD CST to work with the New Jersey Transit Police and familiarize themselves with the buses and trains that comprise the New Jersey public transit system. The CST must be able to identify threats, perform decontamination processes and working with civilian authorities in a real world environment to ensure that the unit is ready in event of a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threat. The 21st, which is one of more than 50 CST Guard units nationwide, is funded by the Department of Defense. WMD CST units are unique to the National Guard. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Tech. Sgt.
