Friends and family of the 2nd Battalion, 238th General Support Aviation Battalion soldiers await the arrival of the soldiers to their homecoming ceremony at the Army Aviation Support Facility 3, Peoria, Ill., Dec. 14, 2013. Sixty Illinois Army National Guard soldiers with the Peoria unit returned home from an 11-month deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The soldiers flew CH-47 Chinook helicopters to perform heavy helicopter air movement and air assault missions, including moving personnel and cargo across the battlefield at critical times.
