In this photo from November 2012, Ohio Army National Guard Capt. Chris Brandt with his daughter Katy (now 15), who is heavily involved in her dance school, and she also recently was nominated by her peers (along with her younger sister, Riley, now 12) to serve as a suicide interventionist under the program Hope Squad. “That was a pretty awesome thing to find out that Katy and Riley’s peers think that they’re people who they would feel comfortable going to, to talk about some pretty heavy-duty stuff,” Brandt said.
