Japan Air Self-Defense Force Tech. Sgt. Kenichi Yamashita helps guide a U.S. Marine Corps Millennia Military Vehicle driven by Lance Cpl. Elijah L. Gates, loaded with approximately 6,000 pounds worth of high energy biscuits into a Japanese C-130H Super Hercules, Nov. 22 at Villamor Air Base during Operation Damayan. The cargo, also containing 36 50-gallon barrels of diesel, is headed to Tacloban, one of the hardest hit regions affected by Typhoon Haiyan. To date more than 1,800 tons of relief supplies have been delivered to affected areas during Operation Damayan. Yamashita is a loadmaster with the 401st Squadron, 1st Tactical Airlift Wing out of Komaki Base, Japan. Gates, a native of Paul, Idaho is a heavy equipment operator part of Combat Logistics Battalion 4, and currently assigned to 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade in support of Joint Task Force 505.
