Kay Nichols and Robert Heindl unveil the plaque during the memorialization of the Armed Forces Reserve Center at Fort Benning, Ga. The building was named in honor of Army chaplain Lt. Col. Elmer Heindl, a World War II veteran who was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross among other awards for his heroic actions in the Pacific Theater. Nichols is the chaplain's niece and Robert Heindl is his brother. Also pictured are Maj. Gen. Gill Beck, commander of the 81st Regional Support Command and Col. Rob Choppa, Fort Benning Chief of Staff.
